Default 88 window won't move up or down. Help!

Hello fellow Vette brothers,
I desperately need your help. I have an 88 and the right hand window will not move up or down except manually. I removed the panel to see what was going on. When I hit the switch to move the window up or down the motor turns on and the gear like mechanism that is attached to the motor also rotates but the window or regulator does not move. Does anyone know how that gear like mechanism is attached to the regulator?
Thank you very much.

Its a common problem. There is a little "bump" on the gear that fits in a little "valley" on the regulator. That bump wears out and no longer stays in the valley. Thats the only thing that connects the two!

Theres two ways to fix it: the right way or the makeshift way.
Obviously the correct way would be to replace the whole thing.

The makeshift way is what I have done until I can afford to replace it.
Line the gear and the regulator up the way it is supposed to be. Drill two holes through both pieces. Insert two rivets or short screws tightly into holes. This will fix it until you can afford a new one. You will HAVE to use atleast two(2) rivets or screws because just one(1) will break.

I have thought of welding it too, but I have not tried that yet. I have too much other stuff to fix first!
