Default Magna Flow cat back system

Thinking of buying a Magna Flow cat back system for my 91. What can I expect? Suggested vendor. Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I have the magna flow cat back on my '91. I think it is a great set up for the money. Sounds good, not too loud, not quiet either. Virtually no resonance.

Try these guys: http://www.hottexhaust.com/Cat_Back_Systems.htm
You also get a discount because you're a Forum member. Bought mine for around $450 but haven't installed yet.

I put Magnaflow on my 90 with 13k original. The look and sound
are perfect at a reasonable price. Flowmaster was too loud and Corsa's are too quiet. I put Borla on my 95 ZR-1.

If you want to see some pics for reference (from underneath and from behind) send me an email - kenb@sgi.com

Drive safe and have fun

the hottexhaust vendor noted earlier is probably your best bet.....the vendor on ebay selling these (performancepeddler) seems to have jacked up his price alot since last year.

i love my magnflow catback. i agree, the quality, looks and price is very hard to beat for the C4 crowd. the sound is definitely an ear-opener, especially with a some other mods under your belt

I realize this is a totally different application, but I just put a Magnaflow catback on my 04 Mustang GT. The quality of the product was very good. Installation was fairly trouble free.

I'm still undecided on teh Vette, though... not whether or not I want Magnaflow or someone else, but whether to change it at all... It's an 84 with just over 40K original miles. The factory exhaust is in really good shape... I can't bring myself to tear it out. But then.... I guess that argument didn't hold water with my 04

Thats what I'm going with real soon, Random Tech hi-flow cats, x pipe in lieu of resonator, and then the Magnaflows! I was told the quality is the best, the sound is perfect , not too loud, and not wimpy at all, and the "straight through" design of the Magnaflow mufflers help flow! I also love the look of them also!

I have them on my LT-4 and really like them. Wish they were just a touch louder though. I just ordered them through a local muffer shop and got a good deal on the install.

But don't you have to cut your rear pipes? I don't really wanna cut my pipes? Also, are those 2 1/2 or 3' diameter muffler pipes (magnaflows)? My stock rear pipes are 3 1/2 if I'm not mistaken. I have a 93' stock LT1 vette, 15K miles. I just spray painted the rears tock mufflers bacl today... nice and stealthy, but can't decide on a catback... I'm worried about drone... I anyone have *** pics of the magnaflows on their C4?

pluses: inexpensive, stainless steel, welded in tips, very easy to install with a sawzall and a cresent wrench about 15 minutes in the driveway without even jacking, can easily go back to oem muffler by either welding back on or use of a coupler, have a nice throaty tone at highway speeds but no drone or resonation (after breakin).sound awesome at w.o.t.
minuses:only 1 thing i dont care for but its not bad.at an idle you can tell they are glasspaks.there is a slight muffler tone you can hear that isnt there on all steel mufflers like flowmasters.
all the systems i could find for the lt1 cars required replacing the whole system.example flowmaster only offers a full system thats close to 1200 bucks.
i got into the magnaflow catback (which is only a short radius pipe/muffler/tips) for about 350 bucks last year.they have gone up a little.
the l98 cars have more options for exhaust parts than the 92-up.
bottom line if you can aford over a grand you will likely see better power gains from any of the other systems, but if your just looking for a nicer note and a visual bonus you cant beat the magnaflow option.

Actually, I think your stock exhaust is 2 1/2 and, yep, you'd have to cut the stock mufflers off. The Magnaflows slip right over the stock exhaust and then have them welded into place.

so with the 15658 you would still need an X pipe?
