Default Interior room

Hi! I am looking at buying a C4, I love the look and that was my lust when I was in high school. My question is how much room is there in the drivers area? I am a rather large man, 6'5" and about 375lbs. Do I have any chance and fitting in it? I have rented and driven a C5 and had plenty of room, and have heard that some C4s have about the same amount of room. Any opinions on this? I hate to travel to buy one only to find out I just dont fit :o And yes, LOL, I am working on loosing some weight.

Thanks

BigLou

Default seats

They changed the seats in 1994 if your going to try one on for size start with the 1994 or newer c-4....I tried some pre 94 and they were uncomfortable for me......

The C5 cockpit is much more ergonomically designed and spacious... I love C4's,but the C5 just feels so nice. Dougs90 is 6'3 or so and he had to get an auto so he can fit in his. It wouldn't be so bad if the tranny hump wasn't occupying so much space... which they did away with in the C5.

Now that being said... I have driven both and will say that the C4 was my choice and one that I would make again. The C4 feels more like a sports car, not a fast Cadillac. I wouldn't trade my C4 for anything.

At 6'2" and 250 I'm okay w/ the C4 although sometimes wish I had alittle more headroom. I've had others say it was a bit clautrophobic feeling, they were upwards of 300lbs. I love it though.

Ok, could some one do me a Big (no pun intended) favor? Could some one with an older C4 get some measurements?

I'd like to get the following:

Door panel to center console at the hip area
Seatback to steering wheel.
Distance between bottom of steering wheel and seating surface

Thanks all

Default Room inside isn't the only issue

biglou,
I am 6'1 and 300 with a short inseam and love my 94 coupe. Once in, there is a fair amount of room with the seat all the way back and down. The main problem for guys like us is the sill that you need to get over to get out. In a C5 you can "slide" out but in a C4 you need to "climb" out. This is something you should try a few times to see if you are OK with that. It is a small price to pay to own a great car like this so it wasn't an issue for me.

I'll have to wait until I get home from work, but I'll post those measurements for you tonight if nobody else has done it beforehand.

The seats in the C4 are mounted between teh frame rails... down into the floor. This made the C4;s roomier than the c3's and would no doubt be a big plus for you, but, like the other poster said, when you go to get out, it's kinda like being in a hole with not much to hold onto. You should definately try one out just to see what your thoughts are as to ease of getting in and out. I know I pretty much roll out of mine ;-)

Keep in mind that the steering wheel is telescopic and tilts.
Having said that, my son in law who is 6.5' and around 300 barely fit in the passenger seat. He found the car really unconfortable and the roof was to low for him. (Good thing I had the targa off).
I do not see any chance of him driving it, much less owning one.
Good luck
Fred

I am 6'4" 260 with a 34-36 inseam. I got an auto, I don't think I could work a clutch with my big a$$ feet. It is a tight fit for me, but it fits like a glove......trick is to not lose cool points getting in and out! lolol Much easier with the top out! Just try it on for size, I think the C4 rocks as far as an overall utility sportsmobile. You can drag it on friday, cross it on saturday, and take your honey for a cruize on sunday down the twistie turny country roads.....

Just a little back ground on me Previous cars include 84 Camaro, 84 Fiero, 88 Dodge Daytona and now my Neon. So, I am kinda use to small cars LOL. The Fiero, you had to sort of climb up out of it as well, so I have SOME experience with that.

As a side note, I had a lot of trouble in the C5 we rented, but only when I was the passenger, on the drivers side I had plenty of room. I am sort of built strange I guess. I am a former semi pro football Defensive Lineman. So that may give you a hint. yeah, I got a gut, but a lot of my weight is in my chest and thighs.

Thanks again. You all are a great group.

Good luck biglou. The C4 is definitely a tight compact 'surround-style' fit, much moreso than the C5, but I agree with kwik_ta, if you can make the C4 work for you it has much more of a sportscar feel than cadiallac-like C5. Don't get me wrong, the C5 is a great car too, just different.

i felt a little claustraphobic to start with but that quickly went away. the first time i got in it i had my hat on and jambed the little button on it into my head then i learned to sit lower.

if it helps any i just got an 85 and it is not as bad as it looked to get in and out as it looked like at first, will take some practice to get profishant at it though. If you need more rome in and out you could make the sterring wheel detachable. once in it i felt confortable not claustraphobic but supported? buy the way i'm 6'+/- and 325+/- .

if you have any questions feel free to ask.
