Default Texas Front Plate

I saw on the news that a change to the Texas license plate law is being considered. From a 2 plate requirement to a 1 plate requirement. Should make the Corvette owners happy if it goes through. They said it would save the state big money.

I hope it goes through. 3.5 years with no front plate and no ticket.

So far that is.

That would be MOST Excellent! I'm all for it and had recently signed some sort of petition to have this exact thing enacted!

Us Texans can only hope!

This is one of the few things our Texas politicians have done that makes sense.

It's probably to make up for the crazy law they put in the books two years ago - Nothing can cover "Texas" on the license plate. We already know nothing can cover Texas!

ALRIGHT!! It's about time. I got 2 tickets with my old 84 vette for no front plate with the cover on so I decided to conform with my 90. I hate it. It's UGLY!!

Well uhhhhhh now that you mention it. I just looked where I thought I remembered putting it and I think it may have left with an ex-girlfriend of mine. Looks like another item to look for on ebay.

We finally abolished here in alberta Canada...But they are trying to re-enstate it because people that live on acreages want to see who is pulling in their driveways...but over all Why need two? It's a waste of money and tin.

My front plate is MIA as well.

I've only been pulled over once in 5 years (knock on wood), and I just got a warning.

yall could always do what the previous owner of my car did, stick it behind the passenger seat and say you don't know how to put a front plate on.

Check out MY CORVETTE PHOTOS and see what I did to mine - (no front plate) Of course this isn't for everyone. It's also available for C5s too. The kit comes with a clear plastic cover which is contoured to the shape of the car, I just don't like the plastic cover. Some people run a "forced air" induction system through the license plate housing too.

I hope to God that this passes! I run a front plate and it sucks. By the way...does anyone know where I could get a factory "CORVETTE" polo green cover? Mine did not come with one. Thanks! ( I am anticipating that this law will pass.)

B.

The law is too late for me! I have left the 'great' state of texas.
In September 2004, I was pulled over in Haskell texas for improperly displaying my front plate. I had installed a front end mask a couple of days before, and was waiting for the material to relax before I cut out the plate opening. Since I did have the plate installed under the mask, the trooper just gave me a warning. Unfortunately he asked me to consent to a drug search, and since I have NEVER in my life touched anything stronger than alcohol, I said OK. After the K-9 unit sniffed the car, I Spent 5 Hours in Haskell Texas while a state trooper dismantled the interior of my vehicle. I still can't believe I was allowed to leave with my car since he found a significant amount of powder cocaine residue under the gear shift boot.
If I EVER find the previous owner of 91 ZR-1 #0682, I will probably wring his neck for making me go through that!
