hatch popper
was on the mountain cruise the other day just riding down the road and i hear this continuos popping coming from behind me i glance over my shoulder and the rear hatch is rising and the hatch release is still clicking i pull over slap the e brake on go to shut it but it kept clicking had to shut the car off to get it to quit so i could latch the hatch. get in continue down the road and it releases again this time it only clicks once i get out and shut it and it hasnt done it since. i didnt think you could release it with the car running unless the ebrake was on. what kind of mystery do i have on my hands? or is it just some fluke that will probably never happen again?

There are 3 hatch popper buttons - one on each door and one in the glove box console... You probably had something in your console pressing up against the button - like a hair brush, garage door opener, wallet, targa top wrench, papers. That would be the first thing to check, next I would check each (3) button and make sure there's no wax or dirt or anything holding the button in. Good luck hope you figure it out!
