I've gotten wind of a sweet deal on a no-wreck, 32k mileage '93 ruby 40th anniversary edition. If (and hopefully when) I wind up with this car it will be my first vette, so I've been doing a lot of reading. I'm very excited.
Any particular things I should look for on this era vette? My mechanical knowledge is at about "novice" at the moment, but I'm working on it. Seeking advice from you more experienced owners.

From: St. Peters MO Sometimes you have to prove yourself by doing alot of killing or alot of dying...
Check you PM. Good luck in your ride and drive
Oh... and since I didn't add it in the PM, make sure to check the water pump and opti for problems. I'm sure someone here will chime in and inform you of how. It escapes me at the moment.

I just bought a '93 Ruby a few months ago with 35K miles off a dealer's showroom floor. I have really enjoyed the car.

Corvettes are generally well-maintained but driven hard. The cars have had fiberglass bodies since the first year of production, and there are several problems associated with this design including the C4.
Be sure to have any car you're considering checked out with a Corvette mechanic.

I also took my car to Hunt & Knight Automotive, the local Corvette experts here in Louisville, Ky., for an inspection.

I am in the metro detroit area. I too was going to buy a Ruby 93 until I found my yellow 96. I looked at a lot of 93 Ruby's before buying.
Where is this vette at?
Maybe I've looked at it and can share some info on it.

With the kind of milage you are talking about I would expect to go for brakes and tires. Don't worry about the opti, it has been much maligned for no reason.
BTW these cars are built to be driven harder than your normal Chevy, so don't be concerned. Just came back from the Skyline cruise and can't believe how well this car handles!!!!

If the previous owner heaved themselves out of the car, using the st. wheel as a lift point - it is a costly repair

Happy ending - I bought the ruby this thread was created for. Still working out some of the paperwork, but I should have it in the driveway in a week. I'm very excited - I have never driven anything like it.
Dan - I live in Ferndale, and thanks for the offer. I'm sure I'll be in touch.

Nice ride.
Inquiring minds want to know how much is this setting you back?
I almost bought a Ruby ZR-1 a few years but it had 120,000+ miles and had not been taken care of at all. Needed a new interior and paint and the dealer wouldn't meet my offer.
BTW, are those the original GSC's? You'll probably want to get rid of those pretty quick.
Mike.

I'm a newb - are you asking about the tires? They have about 200 miles on them - the treads are full and the little prickly nubs are still intact. The brakes were done at the same time.
I paid $15k for it. That is more than I wanted, but given the low mileage, the $1500ish he put in in new brakes and tires, the car cover he threw in, the fact that it had the original painted lid and an extra tinted lid, the fact that he threw in a case of Mobil 1 and 2 oil filters, and that it was a 1 owner garage queen, I decided to go for it.
Did I pay "too much"? I know that is subjective, but just askin.

Great pics! The car looks amazing!
