Default Late C4 owners, a question

The thread about mileage made me think about it, I'm not 100% sure exactly how many miles are on my car because I really only look at that when I get gas. Nearly all the rest of the time my cluster is set to display engine temperature.

I like to look at both the digital and analog temperature readings, it lets me keep a close watch on my cooling system. If there is a large split I know something is wrong.

What does your cluster display most of the time?

I keep a eye on the oil temp. until it warms up, then I switch it over to the coolant temp. Dont like to run it hard until the oil gets up to 180 or more.

If you want to know how many miles you have, run out to your car and press the odometer button. Are you just f***king with us?

Temp always Temp,
I have owned to many hot running Corvettes and have become parinoid. My car never sees 200 now with the Be-Cool but I still am always looking to see where the temp is.

Nathan,

I usually do a cycle-through of my temps as I'm driving. Unfortunately, I do a lot of city driving, and I try hard not to rev the engine too high until it's warmed up. That said, I'll usually start out with it on "Oil Temp," and as the temps climb, I'll cycle through Oil, Coolant, and Inst. MPG. If I sit in traffic for extended periods of time, I usually leave it on Oil temp. I have a new WP, and with the A/C on to trigger the fans, I don't worry much about coolant temp (rarely goes above 205 with the fans on, even after sitting in traffic for extended periods). The oil temp, OTOH, has been known to get up there... I once neglected switching the A/C on, didn't bother to change the readout to display oil temp, and when I finally *did* remember, my oil was at 238. Not lethal, but I was less-than-enthused. I can only imagine what my tranny temps were - for the first time, I could "feel" the sluggishness in the tranny when starting. Maybe it was just the engine bogging from heatsoak, but I definitely thought I felt some slippage that I normally do not feel.

At any rate, in freeway situations, I'm almost 100% of the time on instant MPG...I really try to maximize it as much as possible. Anyway, hope that helps.

BTW - my odo's at 51,502, and no, I didn't just go out and look!

I leave mine mostly on the oil temp as I usually do not like to run it too hard until the oil has mostly warmed up.

Sometimes I'll leave it showing the Coolant temp, but will cycle between them from time to time.

I usually don't leave it set to display the Average fuel mileage too often as I hate to watch it drop while at a stoplight!

I will check the average fuel occasionaly though to see what kind of damage I've done with my right foot!

I like to watch the oil pressure, coolant temp, instant mpg, and tripmeter all at once. In metric!

Boy these starwars dashboards suck.

I always keep it on oil temp till I get going, then I may switch it around.

On road trips, it's always on average MPG or RANGE, but around town, oil temp.

I don't change mine from the digital milage default....
Due to a few disasters caused by my own negligence in my early days,
I watch those analog gauges instinctively, and I like to see them all at the same time.......I've done it so long it is just habit...I always know the status of my engine, and I've found the analog gauges are close enough to let you know if you have a looming crisis, especially if you check them frequently.
