Silly But C4-Specific Question...
I'll be at the big Kerbeck Corvette show in Atlantic City on May 22nd having my car NCRS flight judged.
Dave McLellan will be there - I want him to sign my 1985 (it's the first time he and 'Lauren' have been in the same place).
Where would folks suggest having him sign the car and what would you suggest having him sign it with?

Maybe on a panel you could remove and replace as time marches on? so as to save the signature that is.

have him sign the gas lid, then get another one to run when ur just driving it, and use the other one at shows.
The best thing to do is have your gas lid hes gonna sign, sanded down and ready for paint ( just sand it flat with 600 grit, and a grey scuff pad) then have him sign it, then clear coat over it, itll be there forevere as long as the clear coat stays o nthe car . - Roger

I've seen alot of C5 guys with their fuel rail covers autographed by various Vette engineers, C5R drivers, etc.

Repaint your TPI cover and have him sign it with a sharpie. Then clear coat it when you get back home. Also have him sign your owner's manual cover and then cover that with clear plastic. Any grade-school teacher can show you how to do this.

Thanks for all the input, folks - I'm leaning toward the gas lid...
..stupid question; top or bottom of lid? Such a C4 newbie, even after a year...

I've seen plenty of PLENUMs autographed on the early C4's. They usually use a "grease pen" - like what the bone yards use to mark parts, or any shop that rebuilds components like alternators or starters - they usually mark a date or code for warranty claims, etc.

What about signing the distributor cover then clear coat it. Buy another for running and put the signed one on for shows etc.

I to had the fuel rail cover signed. It is an easy item to replace to preserve the signature.
