Bilstein will replace a broken gear when you send the shock in to them for repair. They will not sell the individual gears and the gear is not a GM piece, either.
Part of my problem is the long wait to bump into used replacement shocks with low miles. By the time I find them and get around to install, something new broke in the meantime.
I just bought the rear actuator off of ebay for $80. Hopefully I won't get screwed. I think I paid $50 a shock, fronts off of a forum member and the rears off ebay.
Hi everyone, I have just begun to rebuild the actuators. I replace the plastic final drive "gears" in them which are always breaking with ones made of billet aluminum. They are very nicely made and the repair to the actuator is stronger than original and costs much less than new replacement actuators do. I would be happy to provide info if anyone is interested. I have posted several times on the zr1 section and the c4 tech sections so please forgive if you have read this before. I am hoping to change the mindset that you must buy new actuators if yours is broken, this doesn't have to be the case. Aaron
