Just got a new '96 LT4 roadster, and didn't get any fobs for it - and no owner's manual either. I have a fob for my long-lost '98, which has both active and passive modes thru a switch. I was wondering how to program the fobs on a '96, and I thought I'd see if the '98 fob would work with it. Does anyone have the procedure for fob programming?
thats one thing that i don't understand. the dang owners manual. why do folks keep the book when they sell their ride. it does them no good without the car. what am i missing?
In all honesty, the PKE for the C4 can be a pain. Since it's passive everytime you approach, the doors will open automatically, the button really is only for programming.
If you have your key fob in your pocket and you are washing the car, it will constantly lock and unlock.
The one good thing about the C4 PKE is that if you lock your keys in the car, the fob will "wake up" and the car will unlock.
That's only bad if a theif knows this and sees your keys in it.
I didn't get a PKE Fob with my '93 and I'm not going to since I only drive that one to the track and back, but my '95 FOB is falling apart, the cases on these things are crap.
