Has anyone had any experience with bras on their C-4? I just had my '89 painted and since we're in the bug season, I want to protect the new paint. The body shop guy said not to wax for 2 mos. I'm kinda concerned that the bra material might affect the new paint. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark.

Anything that gets between the bra and the paint will cause you problems.
That being said, you probably paid $$$$$$$$ to have the car repainted. Bugs or not, did you spend that kind of dough just to cover that beautiful paint up?
I know how heartbreaking that first stone chip can be, but if you spend more $$$ on a bra and your paint still gets scuffed from impurities under the bra, then what?
Well, about the only really decent ones I've seen are from these people http://www.speedlingerie.com/ but, they are very expensive at about $450.00. I've thought about it for longer trips, but I'm too cheap to drop that kind of money down.
Don't put a bra on it. I wouldn't put a bra on anything, let alone a freshly painted car.
Check with your painter. The keyword is don't WAX for two months. There are some polishes out there that are perfectly safe - although you really want to give your paint time to cure before putting anything on it.
I remember when I had my Z28 painted, I actually washed it regularly and then applied 3M Swirl remover like a wax to get rid of bugs and tar that had gotten onto the paint. It won't give any sort of protection like a wax will, but it will certainly help you to maintain the new paint for a couple months before you can treat it.

I use a Bra only on long highway trips. Mine came from Midamerica, it's made from lightweight nylon and can be stored in the glove box. It replaces the stock fenderwell screws with snap fasterners and is real easy to put on and remove. I don't know about a freshly painted surface.
Did you look into 3M paint protection film? I had the film installed on my C5 nearly three years ago, it's clear, strong and protects against stone chips. (I had a vinyl bra on my C4 for a brief time, it ended up scretching the paint surface.)
More info is available at the 3M's or you can also check out my installer's site.
In my opinion, most things look better with no bra.
I agree with everybody else, probably not the best idea to put a bra on your fresh paint job.
I remember reading people using Pam on the nose for bugs, but don't know if that would affect your new paint or not, SO DON'T DO IT unless somebody else chimes in that's done it with no problems.
I Bought A Bra For My C4 And The Paint Has Rub Off Some What Faded Looking, but My Paint Job Is,t New, So I Would,nt Advise It, By It Being A Fresh Paint Job I Would Leave The Bre Off..........maurice

I'd rather follow a gravel truck with a leaking tail gate for 1,000 miles than put a bra on any car, ESPECIALLY my Vette. I have a friend who bought an older c4 w/ a bra. Had to be repainted, UNDER the bra..... So, they're not only ugly, but worthless. Hmmm.... tough call.
I have a black 86 with a small scratch on the front. I decided to get a bra to cover it up, and personally I like the look of the bras on some cars.
Any way, the bra ended up scuffing the paint at the edge of it, and now I have to leave it on to hide the damage that the bra caused.
I would never put another bra on any car I own.

my car got nudged and ripped a hole in the front bumper, i have a replacement bumper that i need to get painted, but until then i bought a used bra on ebay for $5 that is doing a good job of covering up the damage...when the new bumper goes on, the bra goes in the trash

I have a "SkinTight" brand Bra that has a hood cover as well as headlight covers. It can be used in whole or just half (which is how I used it once)
It fits my 1992 but I don't know which other years it will fit.
If you are interested I will sell it fo what I paid for it which is $65 + shipping.
SkinTight brand is a good one from what I understand, I bought it used off of Ebay.
I realize this is not the For Sale section but I didn't have intentions of advertising this I am mearly trying to help a member
