Hi guys and gals! I'm buying another Vette from a fellow CF member who lives in the San Diego area. I'm in Houston, so I'm going to fly out to get the car and drive it back. My question is regarding the mufflers. The car's in beautiful condition, but the soon to be previous owner removed the mufflers and put pipes in their place so he could get a more aggressive sound out of the car. He likes the sound, but his wife's still not crazy about it.
Any of you have experience with this? I assume it won't affect emissions, but I don't know if I'll wanna put new ones on or not. My fiance is the one who'll be in the car most of the time.
What can I expect?? Too loud or not too loud? That is the question...
What year Vette? I took off the mufflers on my 85 replaced with
pipes and awesome chrome tips. The sound is great! A great
rumble at idle and roar when you floor it,and my wife loves the
sound!! No interior resonance either!
It's a '94, and is completely stock outside of the pipes. If your wife loves it, my fiance will probably like it too since she's into the car thing. She'll make the call though since she'll be the one driving it most of the time.
Two red Vettes, both with chrome saw blades, sitting next to each other in the garage....one for me and one for the blonde. The American dream, right?? LOL!!!!
I am amazed at all the people who are running without mufflers.
Young at heart as I am I replaced my mufflers with straight pipe just to get an idea of the sound. Way too loud in my opinion. We have lots of NOISY stinkin diesel pick up trucks here, cool NOISY motorcycles, but for my car to sound like that would get tiresome. I do plan on getting electric cut-out for it though because noisy is cool if not constant. Just my opinion.
