Hi, I have a 1984 Corvette and my mechanic says I need new universal joints put in the rear, however he doesn't do it and I would like to save some money anyway. Can anyone tell me how to replace the universal joint and what tools I may need. Also where I can get the joints for cheap? Thanks alot.
Thanks, that will help alot, my next question is I looked on corvette forum under c4 parts and found a half shaft u joint and a drive shaft u-joint can someone tell me the difference and which one I need? Thanks alot.
Also my mechanic said it was the right side u joint if that helps at all??? I'm guessing there is one on each side of the differential. Should I replace both or just the side I had problems with? I am good with fixing cars and stuff once I figure out what everything is. Thanks.
Don't go for cheap "U" joints. Spend the money and buy Spicer. You will be much happier and you won't be changing them as soon as you will the cheap ones. Need the practice...then buy cheap.
Get a Helms manual or at least a Haynes manual. You can usually get a Haynes at most automotive parts stores. This will give you the information you need on how to replace these. It will also help in the future.
