I have an 96 LT1 with the A4. With the tranny in neutral, I'm taching just shy of 1000rpm. When I'm waiting at a light, I have to stay on the brake fairly strongly to keep from moving. Most times at long lights, I put it in neutral. Is this a little high for idle speed?
I don't know what most LT1s are running, but that sounds slightly high... my L83 idles around 700-800 in Park/Neutral and drops to about 600 when I put it in gear.
Since you only gave what your idling in neutral, should I assume your running a manual trans? And, if so, why should your idle speed cause you to press on your pedal harder at a light? The engine would be disengaged with the clutch in. If it is an auto, whats your idle speed in gear?
my 93 with a4 idles when at normal op temp around 6-700 in park, in gear at red light is at 5-600. first thing in morning mine idles likes yours at 1000 and it takes a heavy foot to keep her from moving.
