So I either have to fix the FX3 or just go with new shocks. I decided that if I'm going to switch I will go with QA1 adjustible shocks. Here is my dilema. What the hell do I know about adjusting them? The nice thing about the FX3 is it's designed by someone much smarter then me (I hope) and made just for the car. I know you have to set the rear softer then the front, and my tires are not stock, I have the Grand Sport Rims so I have 315 on the back and I think 275 fronts. I use the car every day when it's nice out but also auto x, autobahn, and a little drag racing.
so i guess I just don't want to do more bad then good by switching to the QA1 adjustible shocks. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?
I'd go with the QA-1's.
You'll soon learn which settings work for you.
The are cheaper than the FX3 units.
They are more adjustable.
They are rebuildable.
They WORK better.
They are more trick.
Sounds like a no-brainer to me.........

I will side with the FX3. I road race just as Larry does, and my car handles well with this setup.
The FX3 shocks are rebuildable as well as revalveable (I had mine revalved for $220). For another $200 you can get a new FX3 controller prom and road race chip (there are many other chips available as well from DRM), and you have 3 different settings on the fly.
With the right springs and sway bars, these shocks can more than hold their own against the competition.

the only downside to FX3 is that it's speed sensitive, which hurts at an autocross, but there's a fix! Doug Rippie makes custom chips that override it.
For the record, I've got QA1's on my non-FX3 car, and I love them.

I'm pretty sure that if it's an NCCC sanctioned auto cross and your car is otherwise stock, the QA-1's, (if tech notices), will bump you from Group I to Group II. That's why I'm sticking with the stock FX-3 / Z07 set up I have, for now at least.
