only high will work

Default only high will work

when i have the a/c or heat on the blower will only work on High. It wont come on on any other speed(low ,2,3,) What do i check or can any one tell me whats wrong and how to fix.

OK, see the white arrow on my picture below. That's a triangle plate piece held down with 3 screws. On the bottom of that plate is 3 springs of different sizes. You actually have only one speed (high). The power to the fan when dirrected to go lower than High, goes thru that plate and one of the springs which acts like a resistor and slows the fan down to medium or lower. The plate (called resistor) costs only about $15-20 bucks. Take it off and check out the springs. Somehow mine had two springs touching together and shorted something out so I only had the high fan left. By the way, the red arrow points to the relay for the whole fan.

My 85 did the same thing and it was the relay. The relay is directly below the fan motor. You can check the resistor springs as CREWZIN suggests but if they are all okay (none broken) then it's the relay.
