Default Vert owners - step in.

What do you use to keep the rear portion of the top up while you load the storage area? Any pics? I was thinking of cutting a piece of PVC pipe to length and then dipping each end in that liquid plastic/rubbery stuff. Then, with the rear hatch open and the rear of the top flipped up I would brace one against the other. Gotta be someone out there with a better idea.

usually, my left hand

I cannot recall much of anything that requiered more than one hand to load - then again, the vert' trunk is very, very small

I think the problem is more with unloading. You have the cart from the motel next to the car and have to lift out a suitcase, gym bag, tool box, couple -3 cases of adult beverages, etc. It would be easier and faster using 2 hands.

I have a 19" long piece of 3/8" wood dowel that I use to hold the top and the decklid apart when I load anything in the rear. It's small enough to keep in the storage area as it will fit bwtween the carpet edge of the compartments and the lip of the compartment.

I notched one end of the dowel to sit against the edge of the decklid (the vinyl covered portion) to keep it from sliding and the other end is just flat and it sits up against the weatherstrip. I did smooth the edges of the dowel and dipped the tips in some urethane varnish I had from a wood project.

I didn't specifically decide on a 19" long piece but it just happened to be what I had laying around. It could easily be 21 or 22 inches long and still work fine.

The Topstopper from the Corvette Gadget Man. It works great....
It is expensive for what it is, but relative to spending the time to buy the wood, cut and glue it, sand and paint multi coats... It was worth it for me

I use a cutoff piece of PVC pipe between the top and clamshell to keep the top up and out of the way. It really helps when your're adding a subwoofer amp to the rear storage compartment bin. I'll post some pictures when I get home to show how I wedged it in.

Have an umbrella in a case that works great for that. Guess that wouldn't be something the guys that don't drive in the rain would carry!

I use a 1/2"x24" PVC pipe. It's not pretty but it works great. I put it between the stud on the bottom of the top and a nut on the bottom of the tonneu(sp?) cover.

I went to a local archery shop and bought an aluminum arrow shaft (green & tan camoflage to match the Corvette's colors), cut it to length and covered the ends with green, 3/8" vacuum plugs.

I just use an old snow brush I had lying around. Kinda funny having that in the Vette since it never sees snow.
