Well I sold my White 93 Six Speed and have decided to get a C5 Automatic instead of a C4 Automatic. Don't really know if I am going to like it better or not. I will be using it as a daily driver. I do not drive very much. If I do not enjoy driving it as much I will go back to a C4
I will be very courious if you enjoy the C-5 better. As you know I"m either going to do a conversion to a 6 speed + dana 44 swap (like you just sold) .....or sell it and buy a ZO-6. It would be a C-5 as I don't care for the looks of the C-6.
Let me know how you like the comfort of the seats, handling, ride, etc. I would appreciate it.
we tested a 98 c5 about a month ago. it was very comfortable and gave a great ride, also had plenty of power with the ls1. well the deal went through but we found some problems with the car we decided against getting it. wasnt going to trade the c4 though we were buying it for the wife outright. but i believe you will enjoy the c5 it just doesnt have the cockpit feeling like the c4 congrats
As a daily driver the C5 is nice and comfortable. But for those days when I just want to hit the curves at speed, I like the C4 better. It's the seats, the C5 seats just don't hug you like the C4 seats do.

I drive a friend's A4 C5 fairly often.
As a daily driver, it is far easier to live with...especially on SoCal freeways during gridlock.
As a weekend, back-roads tear-about car, the C4 M6 is the weapon of choice.
I know people who would not take a c5 over a c4 anyday, im one of those, but thats because the c4 was the corvette i fell in love with before the c5 was out, so the only way im getting a c5 is if its sitting next to my 94.
Im sure you will be very happy with the change, most are. Right away you will probably be comparing everything and since its different you might not be completely sold, bui drive it for a few weeks and see if you cant find someones c4 to drive and you will really notice the difference. But then again the c4 like every generation really has something about it, and if its waht your into you may not like the change.

I couldn't have both; I'd feel guilty leaving one at home. It would take me forever to decide which to take for the day.

Sure will let you know. I gave up on converting mine as just to many pepole said it was to hard and could have several problems, Even a Corvette shop did not recomend doing it.

I thinking about a 2002 Corvette in Electron Blue. I test drove it Saturday and it does have the power but it lacked the feel of the C4. I had way more power and very neat features like heads up display and other features but it was not like sitting in the cockpit of a fighter pilot more like in my parents Cadillac.
Someday I will get a C6 and I like to C6 better it looks to me more like a Corvette rear end. Not a wall of plastic.

I think that this is the real difference. I drove several C5s & several C4s prior to buying my C4. The C5 did have more power but driving it was kind of like driving my wifes 03 Maxima. Where as the C4 is like being in a jet fighter
The most important thing is to get what make YOU happy

I got the C5 and so far I like it but I also miss the C4. I think as my daily driver this C5 will work out better as I can get in and out better and the Automatic is a lot better for me then the six speed was. I do think an Automatic C4 would have been just as good , but got a real good deal on the C5.
I have had my 95 for 7 months now and love it. So does the wife! We look forward to the weekends when the two of us can just go out and cruise.
However... I may have a bit of a windfall here moneywise that, along with selling the 95, would allow me to pick up a nice 02-04 Vert. Very tempting!
Gonna just play it by ear and maybe go test drive a few in the above year range. Or who knows... could keep the 95 and by a C4 Vert.
I recall a forum member here once said something along the lines of "My C4 makes me happy. Maybe I will buy another and see if 2 make me happier". Be an interesting theory to test out
I had a 99 silver coupe auto before I bought my 96 LT4 (hence my ID) both are great cars. I think the C5 makes for a better daily driver especially if you get the auto but you will probably miss the six the most whether you get another C4 or C5. My C5 had some nice gadgets, like head up display, memory seats, tire pessure moniter is nice, dual Zone A/c, 12 disc CD changer.
The C5 has more shoulder, head & foot room, more cargo space. If you get the coupe the top is a breeze to take off.
Whatever shortcomings the C4 has to the C5 it more than makes up in style. The C4 feels, sounds and drives the way I think a sports car should and more importantly a Corvette should. HOWEVER! that may change if I every get behind the wheel of the new Z06.

I've been toying with the idea of selling my 92 vert and getting a C5. The last trip I took (1940 miles in 4 driving days) was a little tough and I didn't feel as comfortable as when I first got the car. And it's pretty tough to pack stuff for a week-long trip in a C4 vert especially if you want to put the top down!
Now for all of the years the C5 has been out and many of my friends owning them, I have only ridden in a C5 for about 6 miles Going to try driving one this coming weekend to see if is something I want to consider.
I'll still keep my 87 coupe for autocross and the occasional track day

I think you'll enjoy the C5 more since you're using it as a daily driver... I almost went to a C5 but out of luck found my LT4 instead... I only drive it about 1500 miles a year though... It's a big difference in ride quality between my C4 and my Cadillac...
If I could only have one car though, it would have been a C5...
The C5 is probably a more practical daily driver car while the C4 has the rougher ride and feel of an American sports car (rough suspension that rattles your teeth when it hits a bump, cockpit-style instrument panel, tight seats that wrap around you when you dive into the corners).
I just love that fact that I drive my Midnight Blue '89 every day and still haven't passed another car that looks just like mine. Now if I had the Black 2004 Z06 that I dream about, I'd have to deal with seeing other cars that look very similar.
Whatever you choose, it's still a Corvette....and that's what really matters!
The C5 is a great car. I came really close to buying a ZO6 about a month ago. You will love it as a daily driver. Glad to see you are staying with a Vette.
