Hey guys and gals, I need your help again...I was out of the country for aqbout 3 1/2 weeks, my 93 c-4 fired right up when I returned home yesterday, but when I tried to start it to return home the moter just turned over with no fire or even an almost start. I noticed the "service ASR" light stayed on each time I tried to start it. If I try the ignition switch on and off until the light did not come on the car would start...My manuel says to get the ASR checkied by the dealer but does not say what the problem might be. Is it a sensor? a chip? can it be bypassed? can I fix or is it a "dealer" only fix? When the car does start, it runs great...please help
Thenks Mr. Mojo, did you get fire or would it start when you got the service light? Do you think that replacing the ignition module may be the solution?
I have the same problem as you but I just learn to live with it. It only happens to me if engine has been running for some time and is hot. Sometimes it happens when car sits in hot sun for some time.
If I stick key in and service ASR light comes on, I pull key out and try again. Normally 2 or three times before the light goes out and it starts and runs fine. Its a 10 to 15 second inconvience but I can live with it.
I'm having similar problems with my 93 and its the ECM that's bad. I trying to replace it right now. Mine will at least run with the light on though. Pull your codes and see if you get a C41 or an H41. As CCM codes these mean a loss of serial communication with the ECM for some reason.
