Default Differential fluid

As I acquired my Corvette with 32k miles, I want to make sure all applicable fluids are new. I did a search and didn't find much if any information on this. I also attempted to find the information in the user's manual, but either missed it or didn't find it. What interval should I change my differential fluid? What fluid/gear oil do you all use when you change yours? Any other tips or hints for the procedure?

Thanks!

there isn't an interval. GM felt that the rear diff fluid was lifetime.

The search function, however improved, seems to stop about April 30th, so that has now rendered itself useless again.

The rear uses a standard 75-90wt gear oil, synthetic or conventional, and 2 bottles (per gordon killebrew) of GM diff additive.

Add to the 2 bottles of additive, then the gear oil. There is a single plug on the right side of the differential (there is a tag on it). It requires a 17mm hex head socket and a small hand pump to remove and reinstall the fluids.

You need to search on the Corvette Forum.....
...and/or buy a Helms manual. The manual isn't cheap, but it will pay for itself many times over.

Larry beat me to the punch. That other thread is the one I looked at while I did the job this weeked. There is no fluid change recommended in the manual, but it can't hurt anything to do it. After seeing my old fluid (very dark @ 51k miles), I now feel that it is necessary.

I'd be curious to have you check in with the hex size on your fill plug since mine appears to be an oddball. As you can see in the other thread, mine didn't take a 17mm but looks otherwise stock, with the tag & all.

It's not near 17mm, that's the size for the fill/drain plugs on the ZF6.

That's interesting as both my 82 Buick Regal Wagon & my 95 GMC Yukon, both custom ordered with a posi rearend came with a recomendation to change the rear diff fluid every 30,000. the reason stated was the degradation of the addative not necessarily the gear oil itself.
