Default would this work well?

I have the KDB freeflow mufflers on my car.
When you look at the pipes it seems that there is like an inset in the tips, like a mesh with some sound damper material in there....
My thoughts was to hollow the rear mufflers out, by simple removing the inserts with the damper material......I guess it would be kind a like mufflers eleminators then......?

Any idea how this would turn out? -whatta u guys think´

how about the sound togheter with my guttered main cat?

My guess is that removing that feature from the tips would have a very, very slight effect on the sound. Whether it would be for the better or for the worse is anybody's guess.
I think it would look better, though.

I agree that it would probably look better and that difference in sound would probably only be slight. My main concern would be whether or not you would increase resonance inside the cabin by removing it??

I have them on my '87 and in time they have gotten a little deeper and louder in sound. Haven't noticed a lot of resonance. Sound great in the cabin. The red will darken after a while. The look doesn't bother me as long as the chrome stays in good shape. Not sure what effect gutting them would have.

The mufflers have been on the car for 1 year now....the pics is that old too....The red is getting more dark, but the crome is ok.

I still want to hear thoughts and ideas on my projekt

it would probably be a little louder, but close to the same sound. i started my car without mufflers before and then with the targa mufflers and it was quieter but the same low growl. no cats and dual exhaust, stock exhaust manifolds.

I had a stock system on my 87 vert and replaced the mufflers with eliminators 2 years ago. I liked the sound but did have resonance with the top up. This week I replaced the front Y pipe with an aftermarket pipe with no precats. I replaced the stock cat with a Magnaflow high-flow cat, and the rear Y pipe with Y pipe that incorporated a crossover tube. It is somewhat louder but the resonance is gone. I like it, but my wife thinks it is too loud. I will figure out how to do a sound clip after Bloomington Gold is over and get it posted here.
I think if you remove the packing from your system it won't make a whole lot of difference.
