It sounds like the plastic tank may have split from the right side of the Al core. That happened to my '88 shortly after I took delivery; the solution was to replace the radiator. I've heard that sometimes the tank can be reglued but haven't talked with anyone who has had it done.
Will you be storing the car with someone while you are in Korea.

Yea it will be at my parents while i'm away.
I think i'll just deal with the problem when i get back.
How much does chevy charge to replace this thing?
First, good luck in Korea. I spent 28 years in the Army and never set foot there. Marine son loves the place. Rad swap is a very easy job, two hours max. When you get home it will simply be a part of your get ready routine
I paid a Chevy Dealer $500 to replace my radiator since I was away from home with no tools.
You should have a great time in Korea as most will speak English and you might be able to pick up a little Korean while there, no pun intended. Though the women can be very strong minded they also can be very sweet too. Good luck with the stint.
Do yourself a favor and throw that piece of plastic crap in the garbage and buy a conventional radiator.I did years ago,it wont cost that much more if any.Do a little digging and you will find one for your car.Plastic expantion tanks on a radiator,G.M.
