Well good news I think I found the source of my annoying rattle.... yep opened the door up to do a window alignment now I know one of the reasons its off the guide stop was in several pieces laying in the bottom of the door.
So, off to order one of those. My question is that special tool J22055 Window Retainer Nut Wrench, is this something only to be found at GM Parts or is it something more universal and commonly found at auto parts stores?
I was wondering about this too as Mine is in pieces too and have the new part. Why do we need a special tool? Looks like the Acc plate has to come off to get to it anyway. What does this tool do/does anyone have a picture?
There is a picture of it in the service manual if I get a chance I'll take a picture and post it.
You need it to hold that guide stop from turning while you loosen or tighten the bolt. The guide stop is nearly flush with the outside surface of the window and has two holes in it opposite each other. This tool fits into those two holes to hold it in place.
I was hoping its a common special tool one can get easily.
Just be very careful so you don't stress the glass. Make sure the vise grips are real tight before trying to loosen them. I used curved jaw grips for a more secure hold.
