Default Ongoing Brake Light Problem

Hey guys....I am having an ongoing brake light problem.
Problem: sometimes the brake lights do not come on...the 3rd light always work, and the hazards, turn sigs, and driving lights always work...just not the brake lights. They might not work for a day or two, then they start working.
I took the plastic switch (above the brake pedal), and took the cover off of it to look inside. All the contacts look like they are making contact when supposed to, and open when supposed to. Put it all back together, and they worked for a while.
They didn't work all weekend. I just pulled my car out of the garage, and then backed in back in...and presto...the brake lights are working. Now I am afraid to drive the car, because I can't trust the brake lights!!!
Any ideas???

Check for the proper brake switch position so that it is activated when you push on the brake pedal. The switch contacts could be burned (normal wear) and don't reliably make connection. Replace switch. You can unplug the brake switch and jump the socket to see if the lights come on and wiggle the wires on the socket to determine if you have a bad crimp on one of the wires.

Alright guys...FIXED!!!
Took it to my mechanic, and from the brake light switch it also goes throught the turn signal switch in the steering column. That is was was intermittent...the turn signals/hazard switch!!!!
