Default Won it...now selling it

They just had a raffel ($100 each ticket) for a new C6. The guy who won it is selling it already...he didn't even pick it up yet! Got this email:

Subject: NEW 2005 Red Corvette Coupe

My name is Mike Lewis, myself along with my 3 siblings, have just won a Boys and Girls Club raffle for a NEW 2005 Corvette Coupe. The MSRP on it is $52,585. Since the 4 of us along with our spouses and kids can't divide it up into equal pieces, we've decided to sell it. We figured the best way to find a good home for our new car would be to contact people that love corvettes.
If you or anyone that you know may be interested in purchasing this car please contac us, either reply to the e-mail with a name and phone number attached or call 352-795-4191 and ask for Mike Lewis.
We will be picking up the car on Thursday and hope to have some options as to what we are going to do with it by then.
I have attached a copy of the price/option breakdown along with a picture.

Thank you for you time,
Mike Lewis

It needs White Stripes and Blacked-out Wheels. Now what new owner would be willing and able to do that?

I'd sell it too...

Then use the money to buy a 1970 with the 454 BBC

Nice, but I will wait for this: '06 Z06 as seen last week in St Charles, IL at the Chevrolet display tent.

Between the state sales tax and the Fed. income tax hits I'd have to sell it too.

You also forgot about luxury tax. They probably had to shell out or get a loan for quite a chunk of change and that hardly is a winning prize for them. They probably need to make that money back and have some left over to divide up.

I noticed all the rules and requirements on the Corvette Museum raffles, there is a lot you have to account for when you win one of these vehicles. Most people don't know that.

If you win, you're basically getting a new Vette at a good discount, when you count up the expenses involved, the largest of which is the lux tax. Isn't it like 38% of the market value? Hell of a discount price on a new Vette, but if you ain't got the money you aint got the money.
