Default c-5

I agree with another post above if a c-5 is so great why did they feel a need for a c-6....I love my c-4......

Default What's wrong with aC5?

I don't see anything wrong with a c5. Now do I find that there is anything particularly superior about my c4 to a c5 when in stock trim. To be completely honest, it would have been waaay easier and cheaper to do my mods on an LS1, but I had an LT4, so that's what I spent my money on. When it all comes down to it, they're all corvettes, and besides, the C5 definently has the prettiest front end from the vantage point of my rear view mirror.

Ask him how he likes his car payment.

Ask him how he'll feel when he sells it in 5 years for half what he paid for it.

I think I could take him for a spin up Palomar mountain and make him puke his brains out from G-sickness. Don't let the sissy man in the caddivette get you down.

Now quick, go manhandle your C4 on some backroads before she realizes you've been feeling ashamed of her and she breaks down on you.

The C4's have always & will always be cooler than a C5. The clamshell hood, exposed ft suspension, and cockpit feel of the interior (just getting in & out feels like you are getting in & out of a racecar) make for a far more enjoyable sports car experience.
What he said. The C4 just has more character. The reaction from kids is the best. Also have to mention, the LCD dash, the sculpted rear end, and the TPI. You really can't compare the two. The C4 is timeless.

He doesn't sound to passionate about his car so much as he is about himself. It has nothing to do with him having a C5. It could be a Mustang, a Neon, a Porsche..... fill in the blank.

If he spent some time in a C4, he'd be all over it. He's the one missing out here.

Once upon a time I bought an '86 Z51 to sooth my inferiority complex. Then the body treatments & interiors changed and I was once again, inferior. I then bought a '94. A few years later, the C5's hit the streets. I was once again, inferior. I bought a black '98 & kept it for about 1 1/2 years.

Then I came to grips with what I really liked versus what I THOUGHT I should be driving to be at the top of the food chain. I sold the '98 to the guy I had originally sold my '86 to and took it back in trade. I still have the '86, and now a '73.

Bottom line? Some of us NEED Corvettes. Some of us like them. I'm much happier to have progressed to the latter category.

Well here is an interesting one for you.

I have had my C4 for about 8 months now and love it. I may have an opportunity to pick up a C5 so I was thinking on doing so and selling off the C4.

Now after test driving the C5 in question there was no doubt it felt smoother. Very nice ride. However the C4 has more of a muscle car feel to it. The whole package, the rumble, the cockpit feel, makes for more of a muscle car cruiser. At least in my opinion.

Now the interesting part. I took my wife for a spin in this C5 and she tells me "Meh it was like going to the store in our Impala. Our Vette is made for Cruisin and I dont want you getting rid of it!".

So we are keeping the C4.... Though I may pick up the C5 as well and use it for my weekly driving... then take my lady out on the weekends in the C4. Engine roaring and 80's rock blastin away!

well when the C5 first came out,the engineers said "we made the weaknesses of the C4 strengths, and our strengths even stronger"well, thats sorta right.the biggest gripes on the late C4's were probably the ergonomics, stiff ride, and the hybrid dash.well those are 3 things I like BETTER than the C5.granted,I'm not crazy about the high sill getting in or out,and the targa top is a PITA,but once I'm in, I LOVE the wraparound cockpit feel compared to the lexus like "plush"feel of the C5.thats what the engineers thought the general public wanted,a lexus on steroids, and for the average buyer,(middle aged men)thats what most prefer.yes, the C5 is more user friendly, has more room, rides better, has more top end power, better fuel economy, and the tops are easier to remove, but if you want the "feel"of a sports car IMO,the C4 is the drivers choice.they have better throttle response whether its an LT1 or L98,they take the turns better, and the interior just wraps around you.the clamshell hood is awesome, and the rear just plain looks better, especialy the early C5's with the dinky stock exhaust tips LT1's even sound better stock.most importantly for me though is the C4 is the car I dreamed about owning when I was in highschool.I love em both, and I might one day have a C5,but its not worth the $ difference to me right now,my 94 with just over 100k was only $8K,C5's are at the least twice that.but right now I'm enjoying my C4,and so should you,

Default so right

Larzus woman has spoken, and she is right on!!!!!!! It's carma, man in a c4 you feel the road beneith you, you are part of the turns, it's not just the c4 excelerating ...you both are. Park a c5 in front of Gucci's and it's mission accomplished. Climb into a c4 and you are part of the mission!!! WOW what a sportscar!!!

Which is better is hardly the point here. You are obviously pleased with yours. He, on the otherhand has some issues which are causing him to attempt to elevate himself by denigrating you through your choice. "My Vette's better than yours", how childish can you get? I went through something similar right after I got mine. A rather wealthy cousin who had recently gotten a C5 sneeringly asked me this when we met with our cars at a family function, "Why did you get an automatic?" To which I replied, "So I could blow off guys like you who think they know how to drive a stick." It was too easy, I couldn't resist.... You'd have to know him but it's as if he couldn't stand the fact that I'd gotten a Vette too, albeit an older one. What's up with people like this? Don't worry about it, both your relative and mine are to be pitied.

The last time a car owner gave me that "my car is better than your car because I happen to own it" line of B.S. my reply was that he was a poster boy for promoting the more widespread use of birth control.......... . The conversation ended abruptly.

I think people say things about cars like that because deep down they know you have a better car and they are trying to make themselves feel better about theirs.

I guess the bottom line is, I haven't learned anything if I do this to someone else sometime. Maybe that sounds too generous to some, but I will never change this guy, and there is no real point in holding grudges. . The only one I can change is me, and I don;t want to be the kind of guy who would have these descriptions written of him. It was really interesting to read everyone's comments. Thanks again for all the support on the C-4. I knew I would get it here.

Your cousin's words make him sound very young and immature. One day he will grow up and realize how inane his comments actually were.

The C5 is a Mutt. Not as rough and tumble as a C4 and not as refined as the C6. And has a fat butt. I think John Cafaro dropped the ball on that one.

Next time your cousin comes over, ask him if you could drive his C-5. After you drive it tell him "its really nice but its a little like driving a Lincoln and not an American sports car". If you want more amunition, click on to the C-5 Forum. On that Forum, they will spell out ALL the problems with C-5's that you can share with him. Do not call him by his real name (a**hole). That should do it.

No matter what it is that you have someone will alway have (or think they have) something that is faster, bigger, stronger, better looking, lower, etc... my point is if you like it, learn to be content with what you have. More is not alway better.
