Default Do these temps look OK?

I know the coolant is ok, what about the oil temp?

Ambient temp 84*
2 hrs highway driving
Coolant 194*
Oil 219*

Is there usually that much difference (25*) in the two temps?

thanks

Should be fine. Make sure your use synthetic engine oil.

Are these for a C3, L98 or LT1?

If his user name is any indication I'd say it's a '69 with an LT4 stuffed under the hood. In any case you're fine. The LT1/LT4 cars didn't have oil coolers. As such the oil temps will run warmer than your coolant temps, especially if you get on it hard. For cruising though oil temps will tend to stabilize higher than your coolant temperature, your 25* difference is perfectly acceptable. 219 is not a bad oil temp at all, in fact it's just about right. Be sure to run synthetic oil, it handles the heat much better than conventional oils.

For the 194 cruising coolant temp you might want to double check and clean any trash out of the radiator. Mine hovers around 190, but it could just be an airflow difference in the C3 body. It's certainly acceptable, these engines were actually designed to run a lot warmer than that.

Then again I could have just transposed some numbers and completely made that up. Your profile says you have a '93. Those numbers are perfectly acceptable. Again you might double check the radiator for any debries, it's amazing what kind of trash these things can pick up.

I've owned a 69 L46 coupe for about 9 years, hence the sig. My question about temps was for the 1993 6 speed coupe I bought about 6 weeks ago.

Thanks for the replies.

That's what mine is after 2 hours on the highway on a warm day. Looks normal to me.
