Default Code 36 - Any ideas?

I pulled this code today. Mass Air Sensor. Any ideas of what I might be facing here? Is it ok to drive the car with this deal? Thanks

No problem, just replace the MAF burn off relay, located on the firewall behind the battery. I'm assuming it's not an '85 Vette.

Default Code 36

I got this code last week as well. I replaced the relay, and it didn't go away. So, I started checking the harnesses. It appears that the previous owner added an aux fan switch, and wired it up to the burn-off relay harness. the wires weren't even soldered, just wrapped up and taped. I fixed the connections, and the code went away.

The moral of my (way too long) story is check the connections and harnesses if replacing the relay doesn't work.

And, the relay was only $12 or so from AutoZone...

Replace both relays behind the battery on the firewall, and check all connections.

If it then reappears, its the MAF itself.

Oh, sorry. I have an 89. I'll check Autozone tomorrow for the relays. What's it cost to replace the MAF? Thanks
