The new C6 Z06 was originally designed to have a removable top, but the targa ended up being permanenty bolted in place to save 48 pound, so I do not believe it will not be a true FRC when it comes out because I believe the roof will still be a two piece component roof rather than the solid roofs we are used to seeing on the Z06s. This leads me to speculate that some really smart aftermarketers are probally at this moment designing a kit to convert the Z06 to a targa.
BTW, I believe the FRC was designed with the autocrosser in mind to prevent body flex. Having said that, it is my opinion that the C5 has very little body flex in the first place, especially compared to the C4. (sorry guys)

Dave hill has already said publically that it would be a horrible idea to remove the top. Sure it can be done just like the current C5 Z06 can have it done, but with the new aluminum frame you'd introduce a hell of a lot of flex. I've never ever seen where it was said that C6/Z06 was designed for a removable top. The C6/Z06 was designed as a fastback to take advantage of the Coupe's better overall aerodynamic profile.

It was written in a magazine publication I believe it was "Car and Driver" January 2005. If you had read the article it stated that the car was originally designed with a removable roof panel but because of the additional weight it would add (48 pounds), and to add to the rigid structure of the car, the magnesium roof frame was bolted into place. The new Z06 does have a seams that the old FRC Z06 cars did not. You think I just dreamed this stuff up?
