Hello All,
I have a 93 vette and the damn dome lights only work manually. I can turn them on with the switch, but they won't work when the doors open. The hatch lights work when I open the hatch, and the security light works when I open the doors and shut them. I've read some posts about the timer module and checking door ajar switches. Is there any way of testing the door ajar switches to see if they work, and does anyone know where the relay module is on a 93. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I checked the codes and the only thing popping up is the C72 which is due to the aftermarket stereo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
On my '88 there is a Courtesy Light Delay Timer located behind the RH side of the I/P, near the multi-use center. It is a small rectangular package tied to the large wire bundle going across the dash area.
All the interior lights. They all come on when I turn the switch on, but the won't come on when I open the doors. I also checked all the fuses and they're all good.
People always say I checked the fuses but I have to ask for clarification, did you check them with a DVM? I've had them look good but test bad.
Look at the 20A and 5A fuses located at 36 and 37 (second row from bottom left side). Most likely its the 5A RH CTSY.
Next step relays: they are located under the hush panel passenger side. The carpeted part. To remove it, it is attached with 7mm bolts but they are behind the carpet, its attached with velcro. Just pull it away, remove bolts remove bolts underneath, drop the panel down some and remove the courtsey lamp. Be careful not to short the open lamp circuit.
The order of them are as sitting in the pax seat facing forward (duh) group of two on the left aand group of three on the right. From left to right they are: fog lamp, courstesy lamp, fuel pump 1, horn, rear defogger.
Remember the ambient light sensor next to the DIC will prevent them from coming on if its too light out, you can put some tape over the hole.
If its found to be ok, then remove the courtesy light relay and connect a test light between term 86 and ground. If it does not light up then repair open or short in ckt 740 or check fuse RH CTSY. If it lights connect the test light between 87 and 86 of the relay, if it doesn't light you have a short in CKT 150 (ground). If it does light connect the test light between 85 & 86 and open driver door. If it lights replace relay. If it does not light then connect test ligh between term C12 at CCM gray connector and B+, open the drivers door. If it does not light replace lh door ajar switch. If it lights move then probe to D16 of CCM and open passenger door. If it lights test the ambient light sensor, if it does not light replace LH door adjar switch.
