SERVICE ASR light on?? Any ideas?
#21
Thank goodness for this thread. I bought my 94 a couple of years ago. I was hesitant to buy it because the Service ASR light was on. The car drove fine and was at a good price so I decided to take a chance. I've lived with the light on for a couple of years without too much a worry, but this week I'm on vacation and decided to attempt a fix. I ran across this thread and decided to check the wiring. I found one red wire that looked old and worn. I used my fingers to pull if from the rest of the wires and it broke. I repaired it and problem solved.
Thanks Matt for finding the issue and posting the solution.

CODE 64 Module 9
Hello,
I recently purchased a 1994 as well with the ASR service light on. Using the sequenced code recovery method the car returned a code 64 for Module 9. All other modules did not return a fault code. Can anyone tell me what CODE 64 from Module 9 is?
I will also check the wiring near the rear of the car to see if that is also in need of repair.
Thanks!

ABS passthrough connector disassembly - "Service ASR"
Hello,
I believe to have isolated my "Service ASR" light to the passthrough connector or wires at the rear driver side of the car. after this area is wiggled the self-test passes (key-on - move throttle 1/8 forward)
Any recommendations on the proper way to disconnect this connector. Do I pop the clip from the bottom up? Or Is there a screw on the top? I ask with the hope that this does not become a production.
What is the trick?
top of the connector..... will start to clean...
Bottom of the connector... I see a white clip...

Drifting
This thread is almost 8 years old. It's highly recommended that if you want help with a specific problem, especially one that isn't directly related to the problem diagnosed in this thread, you should make your own.
That said, just from the photos I'd start by undoing the bolts that hold the passthrough plate on. Once the bolts are loose you should be able to detach the connector from the wall and get a better look at what you're working with.
