Hi ... I am new to the forum and new to the world of corvettes. I have a 96 coupe for a week now, with a tempermental A/C system. The A/C system is in good working order under the hood. Inside the car it's hit or miss. Sometimes the fan will blow sometimes it won't. I am guessing it's a heater control problem. When I look up a new unit for this car it says "with C68 electric system". My question is .... How do I know? What is C68? ...... Whoops, thats 2 questions. Oh Well .... Any help will be great, Thanks
if it has buttons to control everything and a LED display then it is a C68. The other one has levers to control heat and direction.
Maybe the board inside it is warped or has a dirty edge connector, when I took mine apart the board was so warped that some of the contacts weren't touching.
Thanks Nov. Soul ...... that clears it up ..... Next Question is >>>> Is Ecklers the (@ $170) best/only place to find these? Besides Dealer.
BTW ..... (To anyone that wonders) ...... "Illvtvette" means = "Illinois Vermont Corvette" and not an "Ill Vermont Corvette" ....... The car is great, I sold a 3000GT to buy it and have no regrets. I bought it on line, took the train from VT to IL and drove it home.
Your 96 programer will look nothing like in that website! I've had mine out and apart. Get a service manual.
The blower control module receives power limited voltages from the programer. The blower control module is located "RH Rear Engine Compartment in top of Evaporator Housing"
Tan wire=input from programer
Red wire=Battery input
Purple wire=blower output
Black wire=ground
Check those with a volt meter, the tan wire should vary in voltage when you change from 1 to 10 with your fan control.
