Hi guys & gals. I'm working on my '92 vert, which has not one, but two bad sensors. One of our fellow CF bretheren ponied up a used set of 4 for the whole car for me, and I'm now ready to have them installed. My question is in regards to the computer's ability to read them. The dealer says they have to be "flashed" so that the computer can read each wheel. Keep in mind that on my car all tires are the same size. But each of the sensors are marked as to which wheel they go on. My local Discount Tire dealer says that they can install them and do so all the time. When I brought up the computer flashing that I assumed the dealer would do, he said that because they're unique to each wheel, they don't need to be flashed.
I'm sick of the the word "flash", and I'm also sick of the run around. I trust you guys, so I'm asking.....WWCFC4 do to make this system work right?
My understanding is that specific to each tire ie. :
orange r/rear
yellow lft. rear
green lft. front
blue r/front
However, maybe the dealer can take a r/front sensor, reflash it then use it as a left rear or whatever.... hope this helps
The sensors can go on any wheel. They are color coded & each wheel shud be marked with a decal (number) so you know which sensor (color) is where if you have sensor failure.
I have a ZO7 & have had my tires rotated a few times with no problems.
The info given by mseven is where they start out. If you have them installed they shud be as mseven outlines.
I think the "flashing" is for later models, C5's maybe? The manual (95) doesn't say anything about it.

Flashing is NOT required for your year (your dealer needs RETRAINING to get his facts straight). It is done by color code for each wheel which is clearly identified as to which one goes where. Get a good tire shop that won't break them put them on the right tires and move on. How do you know that the original sensors are bad? Are they physically broken or does the service light come on? sometimes the receiver can pick up signals causing a false error. If you cleared the codes and redrive it for a few miles, that would tell if both sensors were really bad or not.
As long as the colors go on the right corners and the SENSOR BODY COLOR (either black for 89-92 or cream/white for 93-96) you should be good to go. If you have any more questions you can email me direct at chris@kittmaster.com
