If you remove tools, spray bottles, etc. that might be sitting on top of things in the engine compartment before closing the hood, it will be fine.
I was also told when I bought mine to make sure the doors are shut before closing the hood. I forgot once and everything was OK, but it did appear to be a close call.

...Just like me yesterday night when I left the cell phone on the ECM box!
I think only 1/32" saved my hood and my phone!
-Beppe-
My hood and a number of others I have looked at all have a small crack right in the center of the hood at the rear edge, running towards the front of the car, about 1/2 inch long.
I am new to Corvettes. I have been looking into a C-4 design.
A freind told me there was a major cracking problem with the fiberglass clam type hood design. Is there any truth to this ?
I have located a good 1995 C4 and want to purchase it.
Thanks
Gary
If there was I am sure you would have seen a class action law suit. The C4 body is pretty stout, we just got our other Chevrolet back from the body shop after 4 1/2 weeks due to hail damage that the Vette just shrugged off. Got to love Colorado weather.
I have a 1989 Corvette, and I open the hood every weekend at car shows, and I let it go when closing halk way down. I open and close it in my garage when i clean car durning the week. I would say my hood get's a lot of use, and have no problems with cracks.
Go out and buy it, and enjoy.

...I'm not anticipating it but just curious. Is there any preferable place to hook to if I ever had to have my '95 Coupe pulled onto a rollback ?... Thanks !
