Default I sure someone knows the answer...

This is for the wheel gurus...

First question: will C5/C6 wheels fit on a C4? I hear quite a bit about different years in the C4 generation could fit different size wheels.

Second question: How much wheel can fit on the front of a '91 without rubbing anything and without sticking out past the fender? I am looking for wheel diameter, width, and backspacing.

If serious mods are needed, please indicate. I would like to stay somewhat stock. Thanks.

C5 wheels will fit the C4 easily. No modifications needed (assuming you have the 91 you mentioned). Earlier models would need spacers to accomplish this, but they still fit. C6 wheels need spacers to fit our cars as the backspacing is vastly different.

You can squeeze an 11" rim up front with GM performance hardened racing studs. I think you many need a small spacer too, but not certain on that.

I tried fitting my 17x11 ZR1 wheels in front (was told a similar story) and they are no where close to fitting. We (tire store and I) measured and with a custom backspacing, it looked like an 11" wheel would just touch the upper control arm and just bearly clear the fender. And that is without a tire.

We didnt exactly break out high precision instrumentation but if 11" wheels do fit, I really would like to see pictures and the measurements for the wheels (backspacing). Not that I am on the attack but I was almost out $500 without some knowledge of clearance, width, and backspacing. Dont want to repeat history.

On my 1990, I'm running 2002 Z-06 rear wheels all the way around. 18x10.5 with 58mm offset. Tires are 295/35R18 Bridgestone S-02.

They fit in the front.

And I've autocrossed them alot over the last year.

FWIW I've seen people who run 11's in the front. I *think* they use Grand Sport wheels, but I've never asked if they use spacers.

Thanks Chaos, that was exactly what I was looking for. That is about what I expected from 10.5" wheels. I may be wrong but it looks like it just clears the inside of the front fender but has good clearance for the control arms. Thanks.

On a different note, that area where your auto-x looks familiar... fremont eh.

I believe "BrianCunningham" runs 11" CCWs all the way around...not sure on his backspacing, though...
