Default Texas Rocks!

Have any of you C4 owners participated in the Big Bend Open Road Race?
Tell us your story! The last one was in April of 05 and the next one is from October 5 - 8 of 05.
I understand you can drive flat out! No speed limit!
Edit: From the April 2005
"Texas Highways" magazine: "Here's how it works: Racers compete in five speed classes, beginning with a target speed of 85 mph (the Street Rod division). A select few daredevils qualify for "Unlimited" status, where cars typically burn up the straigntaways at 200 mph or more. The more experience you have, and the more safety equipment you have in your car, the faster you're allowed to go. There's no wheel-to-wheel jockeying; the race is held rally-style, one car at a time. The first leg of the race goes to Sanderson; the second makes the round trip back to Fort Stockton"
"Except for the Unlimited cars, where the fastest speed wins, the goal is to average your target speed exactly. Because you'll want to slow down when maneuvering the curves and then tach it up agaain when the road straightens out, you're allowed a "tech speed" that's typically at least 10 mph faster than your target. But exceed your tech speed at any point in the race, and you'll be disqualified, or as they say on the race course, DQ'ed."
Here's a quote from Cynthia Turk of Flower Mound, Texas who drives a Corvette: "What do I like most? Definitely the adrenaline rush," says Cynthia. "Some people are about the precision, and other people want to find their limits. But it's not just about the race. It' s the parade, the car show, the after-race party at the park, the whole deal."

That sounds awesome.

NJ needs something like this. No, wait, never mind....hitting a pothole at 200 mph would make for a pretty bad day!!
