As many of you know, about a month ago my father got diagnosed with cancer at the age of 61. If you haven't been reading you can check out my previous posts on my dad's cancer.
We are only one month in and the bills are piling up faster that we can keep up. We have set up a fund that some members have already donated to(thank-you to them). If anybody can spare any cash, even if it is just $10, it would really ease a problem my dad does not need right now. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help and I'm sorry for wasting anyones time that isn't in the position to help or care to help at this time.
Checks can be made out to: The Peterson Cancer Fund
and can be mailed to: Steve Peterson

your father has been in my prayers since your original post. At this time I am in the midst of buying a house, but anything I can donate... consider it yours!!!

Is your Dad a vet? If he is the Va can be a big help.
Good luck to you and your Dad.
My dad is a Vietnam Vet. The VA said that since my dad has coverage through his job, they can't help. But my dads insurance only covers 80%. Well the doctors estimate it will cost well over $100k when he is all thru, not to mention the lost wages for the next 4-6 months. If anyone here knows something we don't about the VA it would be appreciated.
You Have my sympathy. I take care of my grandmother who is a stroke victum and had to **** away all her meager assets to get her on medicaid because her husband worked at LTV and they took away her medical unless she paid $1200 a month. Her pension is down to $140 a month + SS of $800 you can see how that does not work.
If I may suggest something to look into get a lawyer.Sheild your dads assets now as best you can and declare bankruptcy when the treatment is over. Our health care system will eat up a lifetime of savings in one year during a catastrophic illness as I am sure you know.Once the assets are taken care of try and get him qualified for medicaid.Good luck
I think whoever you talked to at the VA does not know what they are talking about. My dad had insurance when he had cancer and the VA hospital took care of him. They billed what they could to his insurance and he only had to pay his deductible and medicine.

i have sent a e-mail to VA and they said they would get back to my dad in 7-10 days.
I will keep you posted!
