Default Air Conditioning Temps

What should the temperature be, at the outlet vents, of a properly working air conditioning system?

It will vary with outside air temp, humidity, type of refrigerant and system design. With R12, most charts show a range of 38 to 48 up to 80 degrees, 5 to degrees higher at 90, another 5 at 100. For R134, and this assumes the system was designed for it, add 5 degrees to the ranges above. If you're concerned, post your center vent temp noting the ambient (or better yet, temp of the air across the condensor), relative humidity, type of gas, and the low and high side pressures with the engine at 1200 to 1500 rpms, radiator fan(s) on.

Not positive but mine blows 38 on a 90 degree day after being converted to 134.

I have one of those pen type thermometers sticking in my center vent.
