Thompson Astro Tops
Anyone know anything about this company. I was checking the internet for a new top and come accross their advertisement. $479.00 plus the core is about the best price I have found.
Wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

I had a dealing with them over 10 years ago,when I sent them my 87's glass top.I described my top to them to a T,which had a slight crack in,which they said they just wanted the frame anyway,and offered me $150.well,when they recieved it they nitpicked about the weatherstripping,and something else,which was totally 
and offered me something like $70 instead.I said no,send it back.well they sent it back all right,in a box,no padding,completely busted
when I called them back,(which they hung up on me several times)they said it wasnt their fault,but UPS's(who of course said it was packaged incorrectly,so it wasnt there fault either.Well,I was SOL,and wound up putting a complaint with the better bussiness burea,but got no $ I wish this board was around them,I would have posted 100 times about them!

Couldn't this be added to a general FAQ section? (Like in tech). It comes up what, at least once a week? I would think it could be slander if you were to post a sticky about them. Although this is a "private" forum.
I don't mean that as a slam against the people asking, just maybe a simple way for them to find out.

Every time this question comes up I make the same reply. I would not p*ss on Mr. Thompsons face if his mustache was on fire. That is how strongly I feel about his poor product and poor business practices. I told him 10 years ago, when he stuck it to me, I would tell everyone I know about him. I kept my word. I usually am a positive person who says nothing if I have no kind words. He is the exception for me. Please avoid his company.

Yeah, PeteK, I know what you mean. And, as I watch these threads on Melrose tops being the alternative to dealing with Thompson Astro, I am so glad. Glad that peop. will speak up, yourself included.
After years of seeing their ads, (and I don't think I've ever seen a Melrose ad, nor did I know about them until about a month ago on this forum!!!), I've finally got a read on Astro Tops.
Thanks to those who are in the know. I have a similar issue with altogether diff company in the auto biz, but I'll wait for that thread to surface. And it will. Until then.....
