Hello all! I am new to the forum and a first time corvette owner. Just picked up an 84 last week, pretty exciting to me! I knew I would have some work ahead of me but came across a problem that has thrown me.
Had the Vette out last night taking the girlfriend for a ride, turned on the lights, and after about 5 minutes with the lights on (and maybe after I hit a bump) the instrument lights would go dim and then bright and then they went out except for the signal lights and the high beam light. Could this be a short somewhere? Please don't tell me that it is serious
That headlight **** is also a dimmer for the dash if you turn it.
It sounds to me like there is either a problem with the connection for that dimmer, or the photo-eye on the dash cluster itself. In both cases they can be bypassed. Try and search and you should find info.
Thanks! Like I said earlier I'm new to the Corvette family and wouldn't know where to search and find info. Any recommended sites or webpages? I should add also that my mechanical skills are limited currently but I see this car as a great opportunity to learn. Thanks again!! This forum is great! The response time is awesome!
