Do the 80's C4's have a built in shift light? Because I swear I saw that it did. Does anyone know where I can get a geiger wide body kit for the c4? I was just considering it for future plans. Cost of kit? Install? one last question, I found a burgandy, 1989 C4 with blk interior 6-speed with 72,000 mi., modified, costing $11,000 But there is also a white 1988 white c4 with red/blk interior (favorite color combo) auto, 80,000 mi., for $6,000. Which should I choose? I'm willing to learn how to drive stick if need be, I don't want any regrets about this car. PLZ any comments appreciated.
My 88 has a "Shift for Fuel Economy" light that comes on. And its an auto! So I would guess that a m6 would have a light also. People say you cant have a sports car that isnt a stick. Let me tell you the auto is just as good, and with an auto shift kit there just as fast.
you'll like stick a lot better, and 89 is the first year for the M6 which is a great tranny. BUT, it was also the last year of the digital dash and the old style interior--less roomy, less comfortable, IMO.
The 88 is a reasonable deal if it's in GREAT shape, otherwise it should be at least $1000 less.
What's an auto shift kit? If it's cool where do I get it? Does it turn an auto into a manumatic-step-trip-tronic-thingy?
I think you are refering to the light that wraps around the outside edge of the instrument/spedo cluster, at least that is where it is on my 90.
A shift kit refers to parts (valve body) changed to give a more positive shift with very minimal lag or none at all depending on brand and set- up), will twist the tires between gears.
"manumatic" Step triptronic? HAVE NO CLUE, There are valve bodies that are refered to as "full manual", which simply put means it does not shift on its own, whatever gear its in stays until you shift it (also is reversed pattern 1(lo) were 4(drive) was .
I thought that autoshift kit was that thing were it has an upshift and downshift gate on the side of the normal auto's P R D 2 1 etc.
If I remember correctly that was called a ''Dual Gate" shifter, which is just a shifter mechanism and has nothing to do with the firmness of transmission's shifting. Changing a valve body to provide more positive shifting between gears requires installing it inside the transmission. Usually these mods of changing valve bodies and or parts to provide a firmer shift were refered to as a "shift-kits" by many companies.
Is it right to chose one car over the other because of the color combination? Just wondering because I love the white exterior/ red interior on the auto but I kinda want a manual. What can I do about this? Can anyone give me some options of what I could do?
I know the 89 6 speed you are talking about. I almost bought it awhile back . If you need more info on the car, let me know. I started a thread about it awhile back .
