Yes, and they've left the board. There are few who come here to read all about changes and new things, and then leave their cars alone. That's what I think.
My 87 was very original untill I totalled it. After the rebuild I decided there was no real value in it being stock. It got cam, intake, headers, etc...
IMO. I think that for some it may be an issue of having to have others do the work which then becomes a financial issue (labor costs). Then there are some who believe in a purist sense of modifications degrading the car integrity or originality.
Bottom line is what do want to do with it, and your idea of fun.
I also think this is place where you either want it or not, and if you do you join the addiction!
For me it is a lot like the Harley Davidson quys. You very seldom see a stock Harley. I modify my vette to meet my standards and goals. I want to achieve a level of handling, performance, etc. that I personally like. I think it is a good platform to start from.

My LT4 is completely stock but your right had to have the screaming eagle pipes and lil more chrome on my harley..
