Default Engine Identification - Help Please

Hello to the group.

I need some help/direction in determining what corvette engine I have in a car new to me. I am told that the engine is an early ('90-'93) corvette engine and tranny combo. If anyone can direct me to the appropriate location for ID numbers on the engine & tranny I would appreciate it. I can post pictures if that would be helpfull. Thank you in advance for allowint me to tap your vast knowledge....

only three choices on the engine: L98, LT1 and LT5.

only two choices on the tranny: auto and manual.

if you post pictures I can guarantee you instant satisfaction.

If it looks like this you have the tuned prot injection motor (TPI).They make great low end torque.

If your intake looks short and squared off and (may)have plastic covers on it you may have the LT1 (sorry, no pics).

If it looks like this you already know what it is

It's a 94 or newer LT1 if everything is correct.

1992 and 1993 LT1s are Speed Density motors, look at your picture and see the black rectangular box on the intake? It's at the front left (of the photo, front right on the car) and has a three wire harness attached to it. That is the MAP sensor. It may or may not be attached on the later models, I really don't know.

1993 LT1s had the black composite valve covers on them.

What is leading me to beleive it is a 94 or newer is the presence of the MAF - Mass Airflow Sensor - on the intake tube.

Also, the ECU is a newer style, finned aluminum. And there appears to be a vacuum line coming out of the front of the engine, which makes me think this is actually a 1995/1996 LT1. Meaning, it's got the vented opti.
