Outside Mirror Question

Hey,

When I had my car stripped for painting, I lost the little triangle bracket which is used to screw the motor for the mirror to the housing. I then ordered on from a parts salvage place in the US (I live in Australia by the way) and when I went to fit it, it DID NOT FIT!

I own an 86 however I am not too sure if the guy that owned it before me has done something silly to it.

Does anyone know if the left hand mirror bracket or housing changed through the years, and if so, which one is in the photo.

From my Contemporary Corvette catalog it looks like the mirrors go from '84-'87 and '88-'96.
