Along the bottom of the car,
you will see a plastic strip with 'jacking point' printed on it.
In back of this plastic is the frame.
Get down and look at the configuration of the frame.
I've used almost every point of the frame for jacking.

This question comes up seems at least once a week. Your explanation is exactly the only answer. Good post.

However, it also depends on what your trying to do? I have also used suspension pieces as jacking points. Just use common send and only use beefy (strong) areas as lifting points. I had to lift using the spring ends during my rear end swap ( however, I used padding so to protect the spring).

If you look just in front of the wheel well, where the frame bends inboard, you'll see a pocket in the frame just the perfect size for your jackstand. Similar story behinds the front wheels. I put my floorjack near the labelled jacking points, and my stands in those pockets. I should take pictures the next time I have it up.
