electric water pump

Default electric water pump

what is involved in swappiing over to an electric waterpump.I do not need to change opti as mine is newish already but looking to change the waterpump.I have a 94 if that helps

Technically all you have to do is remove the old water pump, remove the drive coupling, disassemble the old pump, drive it apart, install the freeze plug and new motor.

There is the potential for an oil leak unless you remove the timing cover and remove the water pump drive entirely but it isn't absolutely required.

how reliable are the electric pumps in comparison to the mechanical.Are there any other electrical bits that will need upgrading relays etc for the install
