I recently purchased a 93 vette.
The bose system was not fuctional so I had a Sony system installed. The antennal hasn't worked, motor doesn't even make noise. Is the motor dead and needs replacing or is there another test to make sure it is getting power?
Thanks
When I got my car, the antenna was unplugged at the relay under the trim in the vacinity of the hatch latch. The ribbon was broken in the antenna so the motor would run all the time if plugged in. Check the fuses, check the connector at the relay. Also determine if your new radio has a wire to accommodate a power antenna. Not all do. If it doesn't you'll have to either install a switch to power it up, or hook the wire to a circuit that is hot when the key is on. If done that way the antenna will go up when the key is on, down when the key is off.
Not Being A Expert, When I Had My Radio Replaced I Had To Mention The To The Installer That They Have To Wire The Antenna To The Radio To Make It Work. So After He Connected Properly My Unit When I Hit Cd Player The Antenna Goes Down. Check With The Person That Installed To Make Sure He Connected The Antenna Wires.

IMO
There is a real good chance thet it isn't even wired in let alone antenna lead connected. Check all fuses first it should run through at 2-3 incl. courtesy.
The reason I'm mentioning this next is because this is what I found!
I would pull radio out and check if the purple lead from back of radio (if I remember correctly) is connected to a pink lead wire and check if the antenna coax itself is plugged in to the radio.
From there I would check for power at the relay, under panel at rear hatch by the latching mechanism. The manual tells you which wire is hot w/test light w/ ign. on and off.
I would look at all this first before buying an antenna assy. Let us know what you find
