I'm being advised to get a good Shop manual for doing some stuff on my '85 Vette.
I think I've seen "Helms" mentioned on this forum and some others have advised to use the Chevrolet manual.
It may be personal preference but I wanted to run-it-by you guys on the forum and ask:
Does anyone know if a used manual, Chevrolet or Helms, that is available?
I did a search on Eckler's and did not find a Helms manual there...

The official GM shop/service manual for our C4's just happens to BE the Helms!
They occaisonally turn up (for your particular year) on Ebay, but can be purchased new from Helminc.com (I think that's the addy). Beware, new ones...especially for the later C4's...are not inexpensive. ( I think mine was $125?)
But there's really no comparable manual.
I wish my manual was only 1/2" thick. I had to order the reprint from www.helminc.com and mine came with a binder and is about 3 1/2" thick. I love the manual but its a pain in the azz to get through. Very helpful though and the troubleshooting will get down to the nitty gritty!. $85 delivered. Not too bad for peice of mind and worth its weight in gold!
Ok you know all those crappy pictures in Haynes/Chiltons and the like. They are all copied out of the Helm manual. Thing is there are more in the Helm. I have all three and use all three but mostly the other two are used for simple quick questions and for quick reference index browsing (Helm doesn't have a manual) but you can be assured, the other two are always checked against the Helm.
