Need to know how valuble the ruby red, convertible, six speed combination is. The car is presented as 21K mileage, but seat bolsters, and carpet show more wear than that. She drives, shifts very well and has no oil leaks that I can find. Overall fairly dirty compared to the nicely detailed ones I see on the Forum. Paint appears nice with minimum chips, but just hasn't been buffed out like we're used to seeing. Haven't run a carfax to check the the authenticy of mileage. Listed at $20,500. The ruby reds seem somewhat rare, and the 6 speed convertible combo intrigues me. Any help? Thanks in advance.
I paid $24K in October of '03 for my RUBY vert with 28000 miles on it.
With the introduction of the C6s last year the value of all C4s seems to be dropping like a rock.
You can go to the 40th registry and see exactly how many RUBYs have the same options as you.

The ruby red is really not a rare color. They produced almost 7000 cars in this color in 1993. Although it is the Anniversary Edition Color. As for price and condition of the car you are looking at. I would think you could either talk him down because of the condition or find a different car in better condition. Meaning a 21k car should be in pretty much mint condition. No wear on interior, waxed and polished exterior, and the engine compartment should still be somewhat clean. If you can get this car at a reasonable price and it can be cleaned up, that would be one option. Or, keep looking, you can find some pristine C4's out there for very reasonable prices. IMOP
Good Luck

I know this is not a 40th Aniversry but I just bought about a month ago a 89 dark red roadster with only 8101 miles on it and it is also a six speed it also has a factory hard top and also has a rear factory luggage rack and there were only like 616 made with that option in 89 with a rear rack thats rare in my opintion!
This car still smells new and is bone stock and I paid 18,500 for it!
To drive it is just like driving a brand new 89!
Ther are better deals around if you shop a round!

bought one two months ago. 6 speed convertible with 70,000 miles. I can repair alot of things that are wrong and with the one I bought, it will need a new clutch next year, slight oil leak at the intake manifold, fog light relay is bad, power antenna ribbon needs to be replaced and a U-joint needs to be replaced. Other than that, the car is now really clean and is fun to drive. I paid a little over 16.... Some may say too much but I didn't want to hassle the guy selling it and he gave me alot of extras to go with the car.
with claims of 21k on the clock, that car should be darn close to mint.. too suspicious. i'd pass. if the miles are true.. then it probably was beat..and i am sure there may be other things hidden you can't see. not at $20k.....
I bought a pretty close to mint ruby 6 speed coupe about 2 months ago for a whopping $8500 bucks. It's a good 9 out of 10 right now. I took her out today for 2 hours. I cannot imagine paying ANYWHERE NEAR 20k for a vert regardless of mileage. I would say 13-14 G tops. I sold a late C4 vert mint last year for 11.5. These cars had higher miles on them then you are looking at but nothing to worry about

The main thing is you are happy with what you buy at the price you pay I could not be more pleased with my two 89s I own and drive
