He means the oil temp sw is located in the oil cooler; on cars w/o the cooler it is in the block above the oil filter.
Check the resistance of the oil temp sw when cold and then when warm or hot. The resistance should drop as temp goes up.
It sounds like you have a problem with the wiring or digi dash, as mentioned. Before sending out the dash for service I would wring out the wire between the oil temp sw and the digi dash.
